Junior Dance Program 2025 - Years 7-9

Elevate Your Dance Journey!

At Mango Hill State Secondary College, we are excited to introduce a selective entry Dance Program designed for Years 7 to 9 students passionate about taking their skills to the next level. Our approach focuses on building confidence, perfecting technique, enhancing artistry, fostering teamwork, improving body awareness and appreciating the work of others in performance and choreography.

This program is for students who have prior dance experience and are ready for the challenge! For students currently studying Dance outside of school, this program aims to enhance the dancer's experience, not to replace existing study. Our timetable and events calendar has been strategically developed to ensure that the program does not interfere with existing training.

What We Offer:

  • Confidence Building: Develop your self-expression and grow your confidence as you refine your technique and perform.
  • Advanced Technical Training: Master a variety of dance styles, including contemporary, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and more, with a focus on precision and skill.
  • Artistic Expression: Explore creative choreography and performance, pushing the boundaries of your artistic potential.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Work alongside like-minded peers, learning the importance of trust, communication, and collaboration in dance.
  • Body Awareness: develop an understanding of your body's movements, positioning, and sensations in space and apply the knowledge as a proactive tool to improve your performance work and to move safely to avoid strain or damage.
  • Dance Appreciation: gain a deeper understanding of the art form through working with guest choreographers, understanding different purposes for dance across cultures and styles and observing and analysing performances.
